When I was just a high school student, I was totally crazy about physics and a big fan of Prof. Feynman, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics and also famous for his humorous Lectures.
Ocassionally, I encountered his biography in bookstore, and what impressed me is the word as title of this post, “What I cannot create, I do not understand”.
To be honestly, as an undergraduate major in EE & CS, I don’t have confidence to say that I could create something, even implement something(or code). Because of COVID19, in last year, I had to stay home for a whole year, and all my courses were just online. That suffered me, and made me not focus on my campus life. As for me, I lost my freshman year, more accurately, I wasted it. I lost my confidence, and even my enthusiasm. Sometimes I just thought COVID19 would never go, and whole world would be filled with fear, mess, and bias. I was frustrated for this crazy world, and forgot to improve myself to make better.
Fortunately, this year, when I became a sophomore, my college finally cancelled the lockdown, and I could firstly attend Lectures offline. With easing my pressure and anxiety of staying at home, I found my classmates were hardly influenced by COVID19, they all did many meaningful or even cool things, such as developing a software and publishing it, making friends by SNS… And more importantly, It seemed they spent their stay-home time efficiently, and I just made time pass out.
In such that, I realised however world changed, there are always some people whoes paces would not be stopped, they bravely faced with it, and fighted it with their optimism. They, someones just chave their pavements everytime, are real winners in COVID19. And I, when I was frustrated with the lockdown, have been a loser.
I tried to make things get on, so I began to code in GitHub, and be more positive to face my life. Obviously, I also remembered motto in Feynman’s biography, which impressed me in my high school: “What i cannot create, I do not understand” .
Now, I don’t just make that word as a motto, I wanna make it become my attitude of life, academy, and research. This year, the vaccination of worlds seems to make it work, everything has been better, I wish you, who is reading my blog before screens, and I, could be more and more positive to face our life and work.
Regard, and take care.
